Learn about the tent rental process before sending an inquiry.

Thank you for checking out Southern Maine Event Rentals! We are a small, family-run business whose goal is to provide beautiful tent and party rentals to the Kennebunk area. We realize not everyone has experience planning events that require tents, so here is some helpful information to get your started.

Pick a date for your event. Most parties are on Saturday or Sunday. We typically set up on Thursday or Friday and take down on Monday or Tuesday. The tent / tent package is yours for the weekend, so think about how to best get your money’s worth (host a brunch the next morning, or have friends over for evening drinks and cookout the night before your event).

How many guests are you expecting? You don’t have to get this exactly right. We understand that you might not have a firm headcount yet, but plan on having everyone protected under the tent in case of rain. We can always bring a few extra chairs and an extra table if things change!

Where are we setting up the tent? We need a flat, unobstructed space to lay out the tent before it is pitched. We also need to consider tree limbs overhead and any underground hazards (irrigation, electrical, septic, gas, etc). We can anchor your tent using water barrels or cement blocks if staking isn’t possible.

Any underground hazards to consider? We typically use a sledgehammer to drive stakes into the ground roughly 3’ deep. We need to know if there are sprinkler lines, electrical lines running to your shed, pool, septic tanks, or anything else we cant see.
